Is this you right now?

You’re feeling bored using your tried-and-tested storytime tricks but don’t have the time to look for other fun stuff.

You’re looking for inspiration for new, fun, fresh ideas in your storytime to be more inviting to families.

You’re thinking of ways to cater to different ages in the same group while keeping control and focus of ALL children.

Trust me I get it.

I remember when I started out as a storyteller, I had a book in hand, two rhymes and a song which I used over and over again. I felt bored to my wits, not to mention very self-conscious (Am I not fun? Am I boring the kids too?)

What I learned was that I didn’t need to know a gazillion stories and transitions to make my sessions valuable. What I needed was:

  • A deeper understanding of who’s in my audience

  • A clear purpose in telling the story

  • A child-friendly rhythm in the session with stories, songs and movement

Later on, when schools and libraries started inviting me to run storytime, I got to meet different audiences who gave me diverse and priceless feedback on what’s fun, engaging and inclusive.

Once I understood my audience, I understood what’s enjoyable for them. When I did, I was able to manage storytime with a good balance of stories, songs, rhymes and movement.

Over the past 8 years, I slowly built my storytelling toolbox with more variety and complexity to appeal across age groups and backgrounds. Now, through my school and library incursions I’m able to enthrall children with stories, and through my professional development workshops, I am able to help others design their storytime that energizes and inspires them.

Anna was fantastic! From the moment the children dropped into our storytime session, they were entertained with ukulele songs, puppets, and tall stories. Anna found the sweet spot between keeping the pace of the session flowing and allowing children a chance to share their ideas.

This was a truly inclusive storytelling session with a beautiful focus on languages and storytelling styles from around the world. There was something for everyone and we all left with a smile.

Are you ready to a standout storytelling session and be a responsive and impactful storyteller?

Our storytelling sessions with Anna were full of magic and wonder, as the children were whisked away into the many lands of the stories told. They were all so engaged and intrigued the whole time. The children couldn’t stop talking about it and their written and drawn reflections truly revealed just how much they got out of their time with Anna.

Very highly recommended for storytelling wonder!
